Swajan Raptors, the youth arm of Swajan has a mission to enrich their learning and personal development by stepping beyond the four walls of their classrooms. Raptors
are kids ranging in age from seven to seventeen. From helping disadvantaged families with basic necessity items to offering support for cancer patients, Swajan Raptors
organizes many volunteering and fundraising activities around the metro Detroit area.

During 2025 Durga Puja, our Swajan Raptors came together not just to have fun, but to learn, work as a team, and give back to the community. Last year, our young Raptors raised funds for the Humane Society of Huron Valley, supporting its work caring for rescued animals. Here’s what some of our Raptors had to say about their experience.

“I enjoyed Raptors because it was fun to wait for customers to come and sell things to them. I also enjoyed learning more about how selling things works. Another thing I liked about Raptors was that we were raising money not for ourselves, but for people who needed it more than we did. I thought it was meaningful to be able to help others while also learning new skills.”

“I like doing Raptors because it’s a great way to fundraise for charity. The charity is for the community including people and animals. I take part by selling snacks and that money goes towards the charity. I enjoy it because of how much teamwork goes towards the fundraiser.”

“Fundraising as a part of the Raptors team at the time of Durga Puja celebrations last year was a lifetime experience. The money was raised for a good cause, as it was donated to Humane Society of Huron Valley, an organization which shelters and takes care of rescued animals. I hope the Raptors team organizes more fundraisers in the future.”

“What I enjoyed most about organizing the event was teaming up with my friends to sell delicious food for a great cause. Working at the front counter together was a lot of fun. We had a blast setting up the stall and selling crowd favorites like Vada Pao, chips, cookies, and other snacks. The energy was fantastic, and it was great connecting with everyone who stopped by.”
